HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 75 411R E S O L U T I O N BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the members of the Transit Advisory Committee heretofore appoin- ted by this City Council are appointed for the term set out herein be- side their names: and, Elair%_e Niskala---------------- one year Mrs. Alida Terrell----------- two years Otto St. John---------------- three years J. 0. Keelan----------------- one year Dr. George-E.'McLaughlin----- two years Jerome Ney, Jr.-------------- three years Mrs. Jerry Whittington------- one year Leonie Bodin----------------- two years Miss Diverna Mol'ett---------- three years James C. Leggett------------- one year Rev. Sam Jernigan------------ two years Neda Wilson------------------ three years Mrs. R. A. Head-------------- one year H. F. Weatherly-------------- two'years Mrs. Norma Schwartz Hall----- three years BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that one non-voting ex -officio member of this committee shall be appointed by the Mayor from the members of the City Council; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that'the Chairman and Vice Chairman will be elected by the committee to serve a one year term; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon the expiration of the term of service of each of the above members of the Transit Advisory Committee, new members will be appointed by the City Council to serve for a term of two years and existing members. can be reappointed; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Traffic and Trans- portation, or an authorized representative from the Traffic Engineering staff, shall serve as Secretary of the committee, and the duties of the Secretary of the committee shall be as follows: 1. Serve as a non-voting member of the committee; 2. Attend all meetings of the committee and its appointed committees; narac�ary and, 7r, 4,11 l /_ f g --v? 7 S- 4. Submit a proposed Agenda to the committee chairman and members; 5. Invite the participation of interested parties con- - cerned with topics on the Agenda; 6. Coordinate the attendance of staff personnel of the City; 7. Introduce items on the -Agenda and present applicable information as shall be necessary to aid in resolving transit problems in its proceedings; and 8. Provide such clerical/administrative support as required by the committee in its proceedings. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Transit Advisory Committee shall have the following duties and responsibilities: 1. To be an advisory board to the City Council and the City Manager; 2. To recommend transit objectives to the City of Beaumont Transit.System; 3. To assist the City Council and the City Manager's staff in planning for a continuing program of .transit develop- ment; 4. To meet as required by the Chairman of the committee, or the Secretary; and 5. To keep the City Council and the City Manager's staff informed of current transit trends, and to recommend changes and improvements which.will update the transit system services.
