R E S 0 L U.T I O N
WHEREAS, the acquisition of Block 54 of the Old Townsite
of Beaumont is essential to the location, construction, and
maintenance of a bus terminal, which bus terminal is hereby
declared to be a municipal purpose and is considered.in the
best interest of the City of Beaumont; and,
WHEREAS, the City Councilhas considered two appraisal
reports estimating the fair market value of the parcels to be
acquired and has determined and approved the offer that should
be made to the owner of each parcel,within said Block 54; and,
WHEREAS, part of the funding of the bus terminal will
come from the Urban Mass Transportation Administration, a
federal agency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY. OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the Legal Department be, and is hereby, directed to
commence negotiations with the property owners of said Block
54 as may be necessary for the hereinabove -described purpose,
and in accordance with the offers directed.by the City Council,
to the end.that the City of Beaumont shall acquire said Block
54 to accomplish said purpose, and to the further end that
property owners thereof shall receive the fair cash value for
their property;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legal Department be, and
it is hereby, directed and authorized to comply with Chapter
31A of this Code of Ordinances concerning relocation assistance.
