WHEREAS, the Economic Opportunity Commission of Southeast
Texas has applied for a grant funded by the Urban Mass Transporta-
tion Administration through the Texas Highway Department for a
Transportation for the Elderly and Handicapped Program; and,
WHEREAS, the Economic Opportunity Commission of Southeast
Texas will subcontract with various organizations to provide trans-
portation for elderly and handicapped persons; and,
WHEREAS, the Economic Opportunity Commission of Southeast
Texas has assured the City that .thee City will have the right to re-
view all contracts entered into with subcontractors for the provision
of transportation services at least seven (7) days prior to execution;
NOW, THEREFORE,'BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Council of the City of Beaumont approves and endorses
the grant application of the Economic Opportunity Commission of South-
east Texas for a Transportation for the Elderly and Handicapped Project,
and that the City Council further finds that said program will not con-
flict with mass transit activities of the City of Beaumont.
