WHEREAS, suits for damages have been brought by Vincent William
Brown, againstthe City of Beaumont,'Willie Bauer, its Chief of Police,
John E. Richardson, and V. R. Guin, police officers of the City of
Beaumont; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the City should
provide a defense for its Chief of Police and its police officers in
said suit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Attorney be, and he.is hereby, authorized to retain the
law firm of Orgain, Bell $ Tucker to defend the suits brought by Vincent
William Brown;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he is
hereby, authorized to pay the fees of said firm as they become due.
