WHEREAS, ' George Ella Owens .has 'filed a charge . with. the
Equal.Employment Opportunity Commission alleging that-the.City''
of -Beaumont .discriminated against her 'in employment as 'a. ' result
of her sex; and,
WHEREAS, City, of Beaumont denies, that it has.been..guilty,
of sex discrimination to the detriment.of George';.Ella Owens;
and,
WHEREAS, .the City.Council is -of, the opinion'. that..'it is in
the best.interest of the City of.Beaumont to compromise .the claim
of George Ella Owens.;
NOW, THEREFORE., BEFIT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE. CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager,.the City Attorney, -and other appropriate
City Officials are hereby authorized-to`compromise the claim of
GeorgeElla Owens. by payment _to Pier' of the sum of $3,000..00; by
executing.agreements with the Equal Employment Opportunity.'Com
,.mission requiring the City to take affirmative action for the
employment of females in the Water Department of•the City; and
by employing George Ella Owens in.the position for which she'
applied or a comparable position,..
