R E 'S 0 L U T I'0 N
WHEREAS, the Beaumont League of Women Voters is circulating
a petition seeking a referendum for the adoption of the Optional
County Road Law of 1947, also known as the Unit Road System, in
Jefferson County; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the present
system for county road operation is obsolete and inefficient; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that adoption of
the Unit Road System is in the best interest of the citizens of Jef-
ferson County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY. COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the citizens of the City of Beaumont are encouraged to support
the Beaumont League of Women Voters in securing a referendum in Jef-
ferson County for the adoption of the Optional County Road Law of
1947, and are encouraged to vote.for its adoption in the forthcoming
referendum.
