RE'S' 01U'T I' ON
WHEREAS, the Beaumont Independent School District has sold
bonds for the construction of a new stadium facility for the Dis-
trict; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the'Beaumont Independent
School District and the City Council of the City of Beaumont have
agreed that an appropriate site for said stadium facility is a
tract of land containing fifteen (15) acres more or less, said
tract of land being owned by the City of Beaumont and comprising
the north portion of the Multimax Site; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Beaumont Independent
School District have agreed to convey the Bethune School site, the
Pipkin School site, and the Pennsylvania School site to the City
of Beaumont in exchange for said tract; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has agreed to lease back the
Bethune School site to the Beaumont Independent School District
for a term not to exceed fifteen (15) years at a.nominal annual
rental;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY.THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager and the City Attorney are authorized and
directed to negotiate an agreement for the transfer and exchange
of properties as outlined above with the Beaumont Independent School
District and to submit the proposed agreement to the City Council as
soon as possible.
