R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, on June 5,1973, the City of Beaumont received
bids for the paving of Cartwright Avenue from 809 feet east of
23rd Street to 785 feet west of;23rd and Ocean Streets from
Cartwright Avenue north'1+5 feet; and
WHEREAS, Mar -Len, Inc. submitted a bid in the sum(of
$76,055.40 for such paving; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has recommended that the con-
tract be awarded to Mar -Len, Inc.; and,
WHEREAS, this is a participation contract in which
Beaumont Credit Corporation has agreed to pay two-thirds of the
cost of the construction of the street and has placed in escrow
with the City of Beaumont a sufficient sum of money to cover
its part of the cost of the paving of said streets; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the
bid submitted by Mar -Len, Inc. is the lowest and best bid and
should be accepted and a contract entered into with Mar -Len,
Inc. for said paving of Cartwright Avenue from 809 feet east
of 23rd Street to 785 feet west'of 23rd and Ocean Streets from
Cartwright Avenue north 145 feet; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BEAUMONT :
That the bid of Mar -Len, Inc. be accepted and,the City
Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute on.behalf
of the City of Beaumont a contract with Mar -Len, Inc. for the
paving of Cartwright Avenue from 809 feet east of 23rd Street
to 785 feet west of 23rd and Ocean Streets from Cartwright Avenue
north 145 feet, for the sum of $76,055.40 with 75 working days to
complete the job; and the City Clerk is hereby authorized to
attest to said contract -and to affix the seal of the City of
Beaumont thereto.
