HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 40 FFFLN/gh/4/13/73 4/o Fri A R E S 0 L U T I 0 N WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has long utilized electronic voting machines and such electronic voting machines have never required that a person sign his name in order to qualify to vote; and, WHEREAS, electronic voting machines, without the re- quirement of said signature, have never lead to abnormal numbers of voting irregularities; and, WHEREAS, it is felt that requiring voters to sign a signature stub as a prerequisite to voting violates a per- son's right to secrecy in his vote; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY.OF BEAUMONT: That the City of Beaumont supports House Bill 620 introduced by Representative Kubiak which House Bill attempts to repeal those provisions of the Texas,Election Code requiring that signature stubs be executed when paper ballots are used in voting. PASSED by the City Council this 17 day of lQ 1973.1 Mayor -
