A RE SOLUTION
WHEREAS, on October 31, 1972, the City received bids,
for the construction of Line 1, the Major Drive Water Main
being a 30" water main from the intersection of Stonetown Road
and Best Road to Tram Road to FM 3120 to Major Drive to Folsom
Drive extended westward, and a 2411 main on Major Drive from
intersection with westward extension of Folsom Drive to Gladys
Avenue; Line 2, Folsom Drive Main being a 16" water main on
Folsom Drive extended westward from Major Drive to Dowlen
Road, and a 12" water main on Folsom Drive to Cecil Drive;
Line 3, Gladys Avenue Main being a 12" water main on Gladys
Avenue from end of existing 1211 main westward to Major Drive;
Line 4, Dowlen Road Main a 12" water main on Dowlen Road from
Gladys Avenue to Folsom Drive, being designated as 1971 Capital
Improvements Program, Project 12-WU-04,_ Contract I; and
WHEREAS, Stevens Contracting Company submitted a bid
in the amount of $1,298,520.50, for such construction as above
described; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the
bid submitted by Stevens Contracting Company is the best bid
and should be accepted, and that a contract with Stevens Con-
tracting Company for such construction as above described be
accomplished under said contract;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the bid of Stevens Contracting Company in the amount of
$1,298,520.50 be accepted, and the City Manager be, and he is
hereby, authorized to execute on behalf of the City of Beaumont
a contract with Stevens Contracting Company for the construction
of Line 1, the Major Drive Water Main being a 30" water main
from the intersection of Stonetown Road and Best Road to Tram
Road to FM 3120 to Major Drive to Folsom Drive extended westward,
and a 24" main on Major Drive from intersection with westward
extension of Folsom Drive to Gladys Avenue; Line 2, Folsom
Drive Main being a 16" water main on Folsom Drive extended
westward from Major Drive to Dowlen Road, and a 12" water main
on Folsom Drive to Cecil Drive; Line 3, Gladys Avenue Main
being a 12" water main on Gladys Avenue from end of existing
12" main westward to Major Drive; Line 4, Dowlen Road Main a
1211 water main on Dowlen Road from Gladys Avenue to Folsom
Drive, being designated as 1971 Capital Improvements Program,
Project 12-WU-04, Contract I, in accordance with the plans
and specifications of said contract; and that the Acting City
Clerk be, and she is hereby, authorized to attest to said
contract and to affix the seal of the City of Beaumont thereto.
