R E S O L U T I O N
" WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 23 of the United
States Housing Act of 1937, as amended, the Department of Housing
and Urban Development is authorized to provide financial assistance
to local public housing agencies in providing low -rent housing
by leasing dwelling units in privately -owned structures; and,
WHEREAS, said Section 23 provides that the provisions
thereof shall not apply to any locality unless the governing body
of the locality has by resolution approved the application of such
provisions to such locality; and,
WHEREAS, it is recognized that there is a need for public
housing in the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, and it
is desirable to review and investigate all programs pertaining
thereto;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the application of the provisions of Section 23 of the United
States Housing Act of 1937, as amended, to the Housing Authority
of the City of Beaumont, Texas, is approved, subject, however, to
City Council's final approval before implementation of same.

THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS HELD AUGUST 24,1972
RESOLUTION N0. 1002
RESOLUTION TO INVESTIGATE A LEASE PROGRAM
UNDER SECTION 23 OF THE UNITED STATES
HOUSING ACT OF 1937 AS AMENDED AND TO
SECURE CITYIS APPROVAL OF AN APPLICATION
TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 23 of the
UNITED STATES Housing Act of 1937, as amended, the Department of Housing
and Urban Development is authorized to provide financial assistance to
local public housing agencies in providing low—rent housing by leasing
dwelling units in privately owned structures; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Beaumont
Board of Commissioners is desirous of investigating this program and
securing the City of Beaumontis approval.of any application that might be
submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Developmento
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Housing Authority
of the City of Beaumont Board of Commissioners as follows:
It The Housing Authority of the City of Beaumont
Board of Commissioners indicates their desire
to investigate a lease program under Section 23
of the United States Housing Act of 1937 as amended
and authorizes the Executive Director to request
a hearing before the City Council of the City of
Beaumont to secure the Cityls approval of such an
application to the Department of Housing and Urban
Development."
This Resolution is duly executed by the Commissioners of
the Housing Authority of the City of Beaumont Board of Commissioners on the
dates set forth opposite each of their respective names.
