R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont
deems it necessary to establish, construct, improve, equip,
operate and maintain -off-street parking for the new library
building and the City'Hall on Lots 564,-565, 566, 567 and 568
of Block 5 of the Original Townsite of Beaumont, in the City
of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that public
necessity requires the location and construction of said off-
street parking on the above-described property;. and,
WHEREAS, said City Council deems it necessary to
acquire the hereinafter described interest in and to the
hereinabove described property for said location and construction
of said off-street parking for the new library building and the
City Hall, and the said City Council has found and determined
that the said property is suitable for such purposes and that it
is necessary to acquire same for said purpose; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, through its duly
authorized representatives, has negotiated with the owners of
the hereinabove described land and has been unable to agree
with the owners of such property as to the fair cash value
thereof and damages, if any; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
That Thad Heartfield, City Attorney, and Lavon L. Jones,
Assistant City Attorney, be; and they are hereby, authorized
and directed to file or cause to be filed against all owners
of Lots 564, 565, 566, 567 and 568 of Block 5 of the Original
Townsite of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per map or
plat thereof recorded.in the office of the County Clerk of
said County and State, and claimants of interest therein,
Proceedings in Eminent Domain to acquire fee title for said
purpose.
