R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont deems
it necessary to establish, construct, improve, equip, operate
and maintain off-street parking on a portion of Lots 557 and -558
of Block 4 of the Original Townsite of Beaumont, in the City of
Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has found that public necessity
requires the location and construction of said off-street park-
ing on the hereinafter described property; and,
WHEREAS, said City Council deems it necessary to acquire
the hereinafter described interest in and to the hereinafter
described property for said location and construction of said
off-street parking, and the said City Council has found and
determined that the said interest in and to the hereinafter
described land is suitable for such purposes and that it is
necessary to acquire same for said purpose; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, through its duly authorized
representatives, has negotiated with the owners of the herein-
after described land and has been unable to agree with the owners
of such property as to the fair cash value thereof and damages,
if any; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
That Thad Heartfield, City Attorney, and Lavon L. Jones,
Assistant City Attorney, be, and they are hereby, authorized and
directed to file or cause to be filed against all owners of the
hereinafter described property, and claimants of interest therein,
Proceedings in Eminent Domain to acquire fee title for
said purpose in and to the following described parcel of land
situated in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, to -wit:

Being a tract of land out of Lots Five Hundred
Fifty -Seven (557) and Five Hundred Fifty -Eight
(558) of Block Four (4) of the Original Townsite
of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per map
or plat filed of record in the Office of the
County Clerk of Jefferson County, Texas, more
particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the southeast intersection of College
Street and Market Streetin the City of Beaumont,
Jefferson County, Texas, for PLACE OF BEGINNING,
said PLACE also being the west corner of Lot Five
Hundred Fifty -Eight (558);
THENCE north 490 00' east along the south line -of
College Street and the northwest line of Lot Five
Hundred Fifty -Eight (558) a distance of 105.09'.
to a _" iron rod for corner;
THENCE along the arc of a curve (curvature of said
curve being to the right) 118.3'; having a radius
of 371.2', said arc having a cord south 200 02'
east a distance of 117.8' to a Z" iron rod for a
point for corner;
THENCE south 490 00' west 62.94' to a point for
corner, said point lying in the east line of Market
Street;
THENCE north 410 00' west along the east line of
Market Street and the southwest property line of .
Lots Five Hundred Fifty -Seven (557) and Five Hundred
Fifty -Eight (558) a distance of 110' to the PLACE
OF BEGINNING, containing in area 9,713.88 square
feet of land, more or less.
