A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council of The City of Beaumont, deems
it to be advisable and necessary to locate, construct, operate and
maintain a parking area at and in the immediate vicinity of a li-
brary, to be used in connection with such library for off-street
parking and storage of motor vehicles and other conveyances, and
hereby finds and declares. the location, construction, operation
and maintenance of such parking area to be a municipal purpose;
and,
WHEREAS, said City Council has found that public necessity
requires the location, construction, operation and maintenance,
of said parking area on the hereafter described property; and,
WHEREAS, said City Council deems it necessary to acquire
the fee title in and to the hereafter described property for said
location, construction, operation and maintenance of said park-
ing area, and the said City Council has found and determined that
the said interest in and to the hereafter described land is suit-
able for such purposes and that it is necessary to acquire same
for said purpose; and,
WHEREAS, The City of Beaumont, through its duly authorized
representatives, has negotiated with the owners of the hereinafter
described land and has been unable to agree with the owners of
such property as to the fair cash value thereof and damages, if
any;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
That Thad Heartfield, City Attorney, be and he is hereby authorized
proceedings in eminent domain.to acquire fee title, for said
purpose, in and to the following described parcel of land situ-
ated in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, to -wit:
Lot No. Forty-nine (49), in Block No. Twelve
(12), of the ORIGINAL TOWN OF BEAUMONT'Jeff-
erson
Jeff-erson County, Texas, according to the map or
plat of said Original Town of Beaumont of
record in the office of the County Clerk of
Jefferson County, Texas.
PASSED by the City Council this 14th day of March, 1972.
