R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, certain roadways within Jefferson County re-
quire substantial improvement to meet the current traffic demands
by the citizens of Jefferson County; and,
WHEREAS,, an adequate roadway system for vehicular trans-
portation is an essential factor in the future development and
growth of Jefferson County; and,
WHEREAS, many of these roadways traverse through and
across two or more existing municipal -jurisdictions within Jeffer-
son County; and,
WHEREAS, improvement of these roadways is. a logical
extension of County Governmental responsibility; and,
WHEREAS, the necessary roadway improvements for the future
development of Jefferson County will require a substantial period
of time to plan and implement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the City of Beaumont does hereby request the Commissioner's
Court of Jefferson County to appoint at this time a citizen's
committee, with representation from throughout the County, to study
the feasibility and make recommendations for a roadway improve-
ment program.
