A R E S• 0 L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont and Jefferson County
jointly desire to improve the efficiency and effectiveness
of their respective services to the public by seeking the
fullest possible range of intergovernmental contracting,
thereby avoiding duplication of expense and function; and,
WHEREAS, the City and the County are authorized to
enter into contracts for their mutual benefit under the
Interlocal Cooperation Act; and,
WHEREAS, in connection therewith, the County desires
to reduce its cost of maintaining a..land acquisition office
until further County land acquisition programs are instituted,
and the City recognizes that it urgently requires the services
of such an office in connection with its Capital Improvements
Program, and it appears that the interest of both governmental
entities will be served by utilizing the services for the
City's program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute an
agreement whereby the County will provide and make available
to the City of Beaumont, for the purpose of assisting in the
acquisition of right-of-way in connection with the City's
/,-Capital Improvements Program, a County right-of-way agent, in
consideration for which the City will reimburse the County for
such services rendered by the agent under the terms of the
Agreement; and the City Clerk is hereby authorized to attest
to said Agreement and to affix the Seal of The City of Beaumont
thereto.
