WHEREAS, on October 13, 1970, the City Council enacted
an ordinance levying a tax upon hotel and motel occupancy with-
in the City, said ordinance being made effective November 15,
1970; and,
WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into a contract
with the Chamber of Commerce whereby the proceeds derived from
said hotel and motel occupancy tax may be used for the promotion,
solicitation, encouragement and development of tourism and
conventions for the City of Beaumont-,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to ex-
ecute an agreement with the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce for
the operation of a Convention and Tourism Facilities Bureau,
in accordance with the terms and conditions of said agreement.
