A R E S 0 L U T I 0 N
WHEREAS, The Texas Highway Commission on March 31, 19703
passed Minute Order No. 63517 providing for the construction
of an Illumination System from Interstate Highway 10, Southeast
to South of Spur 380, a distance of approximately 5.2 miles
and providing that the State Highway Department will furnish
and install at its ow expense all necessary equipment to com-
plete the agreed Illumination System, subject to the condition
that the City of Beaumont will pay for the electrical energy
and all costs of maintenance necessary to the operation of the
system in an efficient and sightly condition; and,
WHEREAS, said Minute Order further directed the State
Highway Engineer to proceed with the preparation of plans for
such an installation and when said plans were complete to
submit the work for finance consideration of the Highway Com-
mission in the next available program; and,
WHEREAS, said Minute Order further provided that it
was subject to acceptance by.the City of Beaumont and if not
accepted within 90 days of its date, the action therein con-
tained would be automatically cancelled; and,
WHEREAS, the.City Council is of the.opinion that it is
to the best interest of the City to accept said Minute Order.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That Minute Order No. 63517 passed on March 31, 1970, by the
Texas Highway Commission be, and the same is hereby, accepted
by the City of Beaumont.

UMR.SAS, in JEFFERSON COTNTY on U. S, HIG!r,7AX 69, the City of Beaumont
has requested the construction of an Illumination System from Inter -
state Highway 10, Southeast to South of Spur 380, a distance of ap-
proximately 5.2 miles; and
-
WHERZkS-, the City of Beaumont has requested such construction under
the portion of Minute Order 61624 whereby the State Highway Department
'
will furnish and install at its sole expense all necessary equipment
to complete the agreed Illumination System and the City will pay for the
„electrical energy and all costs of maintenance necessary to the opera-
tion of the system in an efficient and sightly condition;
NOU THEREFORE, the State Highway Engineer is directed to proceed with
the construction of an Illumination System on this basis, at an esti-
mated cost of $150,000, and the Installation of SiSting and Delinaation,'
at an estimated cost of $190,000; financing the cost in the next avail-
able program of work.
This Order is subject to acceptance by the City of Beaumont and if not
accepted within 90 days of the date",hereof,;the action herein contained
shall be automatically cancelled. a .
