D. 1970, pro- ceeded according to law to canvass the returns of the regular City Election which was held on the 12th day of May, A. D. 1970, and the election returns of the votes cast in said election were duly canvassed for the following officials and propositions: and, For the officer for the office of Mayor; For the officer for the office of Councilman for the 1st Ward; For the officer for the office of Councilman for the 2nd Ward; For the officer for the office of Councilman for the 3rd Ward; For the officer for the office of Councilman for the 4th Ward; To determine whether a cable television franchise should be granted to Beaumont Cablevision, Inc.; To determine whether a cable television franchise should be granted to Jefferson Cablevision, Inc.; WHEREAS, after duly canvassing said returns, the City Council found that the votes cast at said election for the several candidates for said offices and the propositions were as follows: For Mayor: Ken Ritter ..................... 8,942 Tom Maes ....................... 6,797 H. Against the granting of a cable tele- vision franchise to Jefferson Cable- vision, Inc. .63632 Total Votes Cast .................... 19,345 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: That the results of said regular city election be and the same are hereby declared to have been as.herein set out, and the following named persons were elected to the following named offices and the following proposition passed: For Mayor: Ken Ritter For Councilman for the lst Ward: Conrad Mang For Councilman for the 2nd Ward: Truman R. "Bo" Crawford' For Councilman for the 4th Ward: J. Leroy Evans For the granting of a cable television franchise to Beaumont Cablevision, Inc. The: -City Council of The City of Beaumont further finds that notice of said election was duly and properly given as required by law and provided in the ordinance calling for said election, and that said election was duly and regularly held and returns thereof were duly and regularly made by the proper officials of said election and in all things according to law.
