A RE SOLUTION
WHEREAS, for the singular purpose of making a gift to
The City of Beaumont, Texas, Waldo Wilson, James Cooke Wilson, Jr.,
Mrs. Mary Wilson Kelsey, Mrs. Fay Randolph Wilson Griffith, and
The American National Bank of Beaumont, Beaumont, Texas, did
execute and deliver to the City a deed of conveyance, dated
October 23, 1969, to such property, being more particularly des-
cribed as follows, to wit:
Lots Numbers One (1) through Twenty -Six (26),
in Block Number Thirty -Eight (39) of the
Averill Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jef-
ferson County, Texas, together with all improve-
ments thereon, as per map or plat of said
addition of record in the office of the County
Clerk of said County and State.
WHEREAS, the City Council of The City of Beaumont,
Texas, did, by Resolution of even date herewith, accept said deed
of conveyance for the purpose of establishing an art center to
be designated as "The Wilson Memorial Art Center"; and,
WHEREAS, said deed of conveyance is subject to the con-
dition that The City of Beaumont will, upon acceptance of the
same, enter into a Lease Agreement with the Beaumont Art Museum .
for a period of fifty (50) years at an annual rental of One and
No/100 Dollars ($1.00) per year, under the terms of which the
Beaumont Art Museum shall provide various and sundry cultural
services to the citizens of Beaumont and the surrounding area; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that it
would be in the best interest of the City that such Lease Agree-
ment be executed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the City Manager be, and he is.hereby authorized to execute
for and on behalf of The City of Beaumont a Lease Agreement with
the Beaumont Art Museum, leasing to said Beaumont Art Museum
the above described property, heretofore designated "The Wilson
annual rental of One and No/100 Dollars ($1.00), beginning on
the 1st day of January, 1970, under the terms and conditions of
said Lease Agreement; and the City Clerk is hereby authorized
to attest to said instrument and to affix the Seal of The City
of Beaumont thereto.
PASSED by the City Council this the 16th day of
December, 1969.
