HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 53-F1 AN ORDINANCE r - * AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING OUT OF THE DELINQUENT TAXES COL- LECTED AND ALLOCATED TO THE GENERAL DEPARTIv7ENT DURING ,THE CURRENT YEAR FUNDS WITH WHICH TO PAY THE CITY'S OBLIGATION UNDER ITS CONTRACT WITH THE STONER COMPANY OF SAN ANTONIO DATED DECEMBER 14, 1926 AND THE SUPPLEMENT THERETO DATED MARCH 22, 1927; AND TO MEET -ITS OBLIGATION UNDER ITS CON- TRACT WITH THE RANIiIN AUDIT COMPANY ENTERED INTO ON MARCH 14, 19271 AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.. :WHEREAS, the City Commission, on December 14, 1926, deemed it necessary to, have a revaluation -made-- of the buildings in the City for the purpose of fixing the taxable values for the year 1927, and on March 22, 1927, the Commission deemed it necessary to further have revalued the real estate in the City of Beaumont for the purpose of fixing the taxable values for the year 1927 and the necessity for the outlay for said expense was not current at the time the General Budget was made and the general a.ppropriation Ordinance passed and the City of Beaumont has entered into contracts with the Stoner Com" pany of San Antonio as of the above dates; and WHEREAS, on March 14, 1927, the City Council deemed it necessary and advisable to ]have the books of the City of Beaumont, as well as all of its accounts, audited, the necessity for which was not apparent at the time the budget was made and the general appropria- tion ordinance was passed and the City Council has entered into a con- tract with the Rankin Audit Company for said -services. NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COML-IISSION OF THE C I TY OF BEAUMONT : -- SECTION I. That the sum of Nine Thousand Two Hundred Fifty and no/100 ($9,250;00') Dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the delinquent taxes collected during the current year allocated to the General Department for the payment of the City's obligations under its contract with the Stoner Company of San Antonio, dated December 14, 1926, together with the supplement thereto dated March 22, 1927, and that said sum is hereby'allocated for that purpose. SECTION 2.. That the sum of Five Thousand and no/100 ($5,000.00) Dollars be -and the same is hereby appropriated out of the delinquent taxes col- lected during the current year.and allocated to .the General Department for the purpose of paying the City's obligation under its contract with the Rankin Audit Company, dated March 14, 19-27, and said sum is hereby allocated for said purpose. v i W The fact that it was necessary to have the taxable property in the City of Beaumont revalued for the purpose -of taxation and the fact that it was necessary to have the books and accounts of the City of Beaumont audited for the period from April 1, 1924 -to March 31, 1927, and said contingencies were notforeseenat the time of the adoption of the general appropriation ardinance and it is necessary to appropriate funds for the payment of said services,._ creates an imperative public necessity requiring the rule that ordinances be read on three.(3) sep— arate days be suspended and said rule is hereby suspended and this or— dinance shall take effect and be in force from and af£.er its passage.
