AN ORDINANCE

ORDERING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT FOR THE YEAR L527;# AS PROVIDED 'BY THE CHARTER
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, ON THE DATE AND AT THE PLACES
SET FORTH IN SAID ORDINANCE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECT-
ING SIX COUNCILMEN, AS DESIGNATED IN SAID ORDINANCE
NAMING THE PLACES AT WHICH SAID ELECTION SHALL BE HELD;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. -
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE.
C-ITY OF BEAUMONT:
SECTION 2.
That in accordance with Section 26, Sub -section 4 of the
-Charter of the City of Beaumont, and other provisions of said Charter,
and the laws of the State of Texas, relating thereto, there shall be
held in the City of Beaumont, on the first Tuesday in April, 1927,.
the same being April 5th, 1927, a regular municipal election for
said City for the purpose of electing two councilmen for the First
Ward, two councilmen for.the Second Ward, and two councilmen for
the Third Ward i -n said City..
- SECTION 2.
That said election shall be held in the City of Beaumont
in the following places, to -wit: --
In the First Ward at the Central Fire Station, French
School Building and Gladys Street
Fire Station..
In the Second Ward'at the City Hall.
In the Third Ward at the Jefferson County Court House,
Sabine Pass Fire Station, and the
South Park Elementary School Building.
SECTION 3.
The following named persons are appointed presiding Judges
of their respective voting boxes in said wards, with the authority„to
select and appoint their own clerks.

SECTION 4..
That said election shall be held under, and the qualifi—
cations of those voting thereat shall be controlled by the provisions
of the State Laws governing elections.
SECTION 5.
That a copy of this Ordinance signed by the Mayor of i;he
City of Beaumont, - and attested -by the City Clerk thereof,--shall-serve
as proper and sufficient notice of said election; and the Mayor is
hereby directed to cause a copy of this Ordinance, signed by himself
and attested by the City Clerk, to be posted at each of the places
herein designated for holding said election at least thirty days
prior to the date of holding said election.
SECTION 6.
That an ordinance has not yet been passed providing for
and ordering a general municipal election for the year .1927 and that
such ordinance is necessary, thereby creating an imperative public
emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances
to be read on three separate days before their passage; wherefore,
said rule is hereby suspended and this ordinance scall take effect
from and after its passage and the signature of the mayor.
Passed by the affirmative vote of all members of the Com—
mission this the day of March, A.D. 1927.
