Prohibiting the keeping or storing in the City of Beaumont of
gasoline, benzine, carbon bisulphide, (High Life) naptha, or other fluids
(except alcohol, denatured or otherwise) which, at, ordinary temperatures
give off inflammable vapors, except in rietal cans or storage tanks with
pumps approved by the National Board of Fire Underwriters, and installed
in a standard manner, providing for the installation of all metal cans,
storage tanks and pumps in.,the City of Beaumont, regulating the distance
from the property line said can, storage tanks or pumps shall be install-
ed, providing a penalty for the violation of any provision of this cvdi-
nance, providing that the invalidity of a part shall -not invalidate all
of said ordinance and repealing all o2dinan.ces and parts of ordinances
- in conflict herewith., _.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMPAISSION OF THE CITY
OF BEAUMONT:
SECTION I.
That it shall be unlawful for any person -firm or corporation
to keep or store on any premises in the City of Beaumont any gasoline,
benzine, carbon bisulphide (High Life), naptha or other fluids (except
alcohol,. denatured or otherwise), which, at ordinary temperatures, give
off inflammable vapors, except in metal cans and storage tanks with
proper pumps, approved by the National Board-of_Fir.e Underwriters.
SECTION II.
-That all metal cans, storage --tanks and pumps -shall be install-
ed in a standard manner as provided by the rules of the National Board
of Fire Underwriters and shall -,be installed.only after a permit has been
obtained from the City 4GvAte*g� and under the direction of the City En-
gineer and the Fire -Marshal.
SECTION III.
That after the passage and approval of this ordinance, all
metal cans, storage tanks and pumps shall be.plaaed at least 14 feet
from the property line and any metal cans, -storage tanks; or pumps
which are hereafter repaired or removed and which are now situa ted
closer than 14 feet to the property line, -Shall b'e replaced so as to
--beat -,least- 14- feet` -from - the property line..
SECTION -1V.
That any person, firm, corporation, who •should.violate any
provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
SECTION V.
The invalidity-of a part of this ordinanc-e shall not in-
validate all-of the same and .all ordib .nc;es and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby expresslypealed..
