AN ORDINANCE
An Ordinance authorizing the exchange of property be -
ween the City of Beaumont and the ITAtthew Cartwright Land &
rovement. Company;' said property being situated in the David
Brown League, Jefferson County, Texas,
Whereas, the City of Beaumont, is the owner- of a tract
f land situated. in the David Brown Survey of J:effer,son County,
Texas, and
Whereas, it is the desire of the City -to exchange part
said tract which is hereinafter fully described by metes
cl�bounds for a tract of land owned by the 11Iatthe� Cart�rrght
Land & Improvement Company; situated in the same League and
described by metes and bounds hereinafter, and
Whereas, the Matthew Cartwright Land & Improvement Com -
any is willing to make said exchange, and
Mier.eas, the property owned by the Matthew Cartwright Land
Improvement Company is more advantageously -situated with re-
erence to. other property owned by the City of Beaumont than
he tract of land owned by the City and hereinafter described,

Mereas, it would be to the best interest of the City
o make said exchange.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUDIM011IT:
SECTION I
That in consideration of the Matthew Cartwright Land &
_-Impr.ovement.__Company_ executing_ a__goodand sufficient Warranty_ _
Deed. to the City of Beaumont for the following described pro-
perty.
"Beginning at the intersection of the north line of
College Streetif produced west with the west line of City
Park.100 acres out of the David Brown League, J-efferson County,
Texas;
"Thence north in west line of said City Park tract 622-1/10
feet to iron pipe for corner;
"Thence west parallel with north .line of College Street
if produced west 1495-5/10 feet to stake in center of Eleven-
th Street if produced south;
"Thence South 0 degrees'08 minutes east with center
line of Eleventh Street, if produced 622-1/10 feet to north
line of College if produced west;.,
"Thence -east with north line of College Street if pro-
duced west 1494 feet to place of beginning, containing 21.347
acres, and situated in Tefferson County, Texas.":
the Mayor of the City of Beaumont is hereby authorized. and di-
rected to execute and deliver the deed of the City of Beaumont
to the Matthew Cartwright Land & Improvement. Company, to the
following described property:,
"Beginning at intersection of north line of Washing-
ton street -nroduced west. with west right-of-waY line of Gulf

"Thence north with west line of City park tract 337
feet to the south line of College Street produced;
"Thence east in south line of said Street if produced
2317 feet to intersection with west right-of-way line of
G&I Railway; said right-of-way line being 501 west from cen-
ter line of said Railroad Company's track;
"Thence south 42 degrees 21 minutes west in west right-
of-way line said Railr-oad Company 456 feet to- place of be-
ginning, containing 16.738 acres, and situated in Jefferson
County, Teras."
