ORDERING THE GMI ERAL .MUNICIPAL ELECTION FOR THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT FOR THE YEAR 1926, A$ -P'ROVIDED BY THE CHARTER OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT, ON THE DATE AND AT THE PLACES SET FORTH IN
SAID ORDINANCE, FRO THE PURPOSE OF EMOTING A MAYOR AND KINE
COUNCILMEDT9 AS DESIGNATED IN SAID ORDINANCE; NAMING THE PLACES
AT i'HICH SAID ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OP BEAUMONT:
Section I.
That in accordance with Section 26, sub-seotion 4 of the
Charter of the City of Beaumont, and other provisions of said
Charter, and the laws of the State of Texas, relating thereto,
there shall be held in the City of Beaumont, on the first Tuesday
in April, 1926, the same being Apn'il 6th, 1926, a regular
municipal election for said City for the purpose of electing a
Mayor and for the purpose of electing three councilmen for the
First Ward, three councilmen for the Second Ward, and three
councilmen for the Third Ward in said City.
Section 2.
That said election shall be held in the City of Beaumont
in the following places, to wit: -
In the First r4ard at the Central Fire ;station,
French Shcool Building and Gladys Street 2ire
Station.
In the Second lard at the City Hall.
In the Third Ward at the defferson County Court
Hou We rase Mire Station, and the South
.ear,ASc 00 building.
Section 3.
The following named persons are appointed presiding judges of
their respective voting boxes in said wards, with the authority to
select and appoint their own clerks.
At the Central Fire Station,
At the French school Building,- _
At the Gladys Street Fire Station,

Sedtion -6.
That a copy of this urdinance, signed by the mayor of
the city of beaumont, and attested by the city clerk thereof,
shall serve as proper and sufficient notice of said election;
and the mayor is hereby directed to cause a copy of this
urdinance, signed by himself and attested by the city clerk,
to be posted at each of the places herein designated for holding
said election at least thirty days prior to the date of holding
said election.
Section..
That an ordinance has not yet been passed providing for
and ordering a general municipal election for the year 1926 and
that such ordinance is necessary, thereby creating an imperative
public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring
ordinances to be read on three separate days before their passage;
wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall
take effect from and after its passage and the signature of the
mayoro
rassed by the affirmative vote of all members of the
commission this the 2nd day of march, A. D. 1926.
