AN ORDINANCE
Ratifying a contract entered into by and 'betiveen the
Beaumont Nater Works Commission on behalf of the City of
Beaumont, and Thompson. and Price, Contractors for the con-
struction of a. filteration plant at Beaumont, Texas, according, -
to plans and specifications drawn by. Burns & McDonald Engineer-
ing Company of Kansas City, Missouri, and Los Angeles, ialifornia,
filed with the Beaumont Water Works Commission. on. the 26th day
of August, 1924, and making an appropriation for the payment
of the contract price of said contract, and declaring an
emergency:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COW41SSIOU OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section I.
That the.' -contract entered into by and between the Be&,lmont
Water Works Commiaston on behalf of .the City of.' Beaumont, and
Thompson & Price, of Kansas City, Missouri, contractors, on the
26th day of August, 1924, for the construction of a filte-ration
plant at Beaumont, Texas, according . to specifications dravm. by
Burns & McDonald Engineering' Company of Z6Asas City, Missouri
and Los Angeles, California, be and the same is hereby in all
things ratified and approved and declared .to, b:e a valid and
legal contract of the City of Beaumont and the obligations and
liabilities therein imposed upon the City of Beaumont are hereby
in all things ratified, approved, and assumed by the City of
Beaumont:
Section II.
There is hereby appropriated from the Beaumont Water
Works Bond Fund of 1922 the sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars,
(450;000.00) and from the Beaumont Water Works Revenue Fund
the s`am of Eighty-two Thousand Dollars (82,000.00) , or sq
much thereof as may be necessary to cover the payments to
Thompson & Price, contractors, called for in said contract,
the total contract price of said contract being One Hundred
Section III.
The sun of Twenty- seven Thousand Three . Hundred Porty
Sever and 49/100 Dollars ($27,3' 27, 47:49) having been. heretofore
paid out of the Beaumont Water WorksRevenue Wand upon said
contract , the funds for" th e payinen"t , o f same "out of the Beamont
Water Works Revenue Fund are hereby appropriated and said
payment is hereby in all things ratified ,and confirmed.
Section IV.
Whereas, Thompson & Price; contractors, are at present
working on said contract and payments are accruing thereunder
requiring an immediate appropriation to meet said payments
creates an, imperative public necessity requiring the rule that
ordinances be read ,at three separate meetings before their
passage be suspended, andaJiie is hereby suspended and this
ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and ' after its,
passage and lawful publication: _
Passed by a .unanimous vote of the City Commission thin
the 20th day of December, A.. D, 1924.
