COMPANY AND Sl:ID . CITY, AS COVERED BY CERTIFICATE FURNISHED BY
THE CITY ENGINEER, AND AUTHORIZING THE DELIVERY TO SAID COMUNY
OF CITY OF BEAUKONT STREET IMPRIIVEMENT WARRANTS,UVALDE ROCK
kSPHALT COMPANY SERIES, TO THE AMOUNT OF
.SND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHERM S, heretofore, on the 7th day of March, 1924,
the City of Beaumont entered into a contract with Uvalde Rock
Nock Asphalt Co4DanY for the construction of certain street
improvements in and for said City, which contract is recorded
in Book 7, of the Minutes of the City Commission of said City;
and
WHEREAS, on the 30th day of April, 1924, a supplemental
contract was entered into by and between said City and said Company
wherein and whereby it was -agreed -that the contract price for
said street improvements shall be payable by the issuance of City
of Beaumont Street Improvement Warrants,not to exceed 135,000.00
to be delivered in installments in payment of work completed,
as covered by certificate of City Engineer, after claim covering
such certificate has been duly audited and allowed by the City
Commission of said City; and'
WHEREAS, the said Uvalde Rock Asphalt Comnany has
now presented to the City Commission a certificate duly made
by the City Engineer of the City of Beaumont, covering work
completed ander said contract, which certificate is in words
and figures as follows:

WHEREAS, said Certificate_ has been duly audited by
this Commission and found. to be correct; and
WB3REAS, said Uvalde hockfi' sphalt`.Company is entitled
to receive payment for 90% of said completed work; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE. CITY COI&IISSION OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT:
That the claims of the Uvalde Rock .Asphalt Company, as
covered by City !Mgineer's Certificate herein set out, be and the
same is hereby allowed.
That $1000.OQ of the indebtedness evidenced by
Certificate be paid to said Uvalde Rook Asphalt Company by the
issuance and delivery, to said Company of "CITY OF BEAUMONT STREET
IG2PROVECENT WARRANTS-UVAI,UE ROCK .ASPHALT COMPANY SERIES! numbers
one (I), aggregating $1,000.00 (One 'Thousand Dollars) o:t an issue
of thirty five warrants, of the denomination of $-x,,000:00 each,
aggregating $35-,000:00, dated June 1, `.1924, bearing ,interest at
the rate oflseven 17)% per annum, W thorized to be issued by an
ordinance

The fact that Sabine Pass From Frederick Street to
Emmett .Avenue is a main thoroughfare in the City of Beaumont,'and
that it is badly, needed to facilitate traffic, creates. an emergency
and an imperative public necessity, necessitating the suspension
of the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three separate
meetings, said rule is therefore hereby suspended and this Ordinance
shall take effect from and after its passage and publication .
