(See sketch attached) As soon as the paving on College, beyond Avenue D, is completed it is our plan to extend the line on College Street to Avenue G, operat- ing every other bus from Avenue C to that point. The alternate bus will turn north on Avenue C and run to Bowie. Yours very truly, I.. C. Singleton, Superintendento V, . C EASTERN TEXAS ELECTRIC COMPANY Beaumont, Texas, June 17, 1931. With the excep- tion of the end of the route where Foch Street is not paved, the route of the former car line is followed en- tirely, and we have routed via a small loop in order to provide as much door- to-door service as possible. The buses are routed entirely over paved streets which will improve the comfort of your ride. With the excep- tion of the down town loop and the small loop on the end of the Royal route, the busses `go' and `come' over the same streets, which should prove more convenient. Of added convenience is the plan whereby the Royal line is routed past the intersection of Park & Emmett to provide convenient transfer facilities to the PARK -CALDER and SABINE- MAGNOLIA lines. Park and Calder Street Car Lines to Be Joined Another change effective Sunday which will be of much interest to our street car patrons is the uniting of the Park and Calder car lines to provide cross town service without the necessity of transferring. From Calder Avenue the car will travel straight through to the end of the • -Park-line and vice versa. This line will be routed over the Pearl Street —`irac"rs just like the Sabine -Magnolia line, the trackage on Park Street be- tween Milam and Orleans and Liberty being practically abandoned under this plan. No changes have been made in the headway on the Calder end of the line with the exception that a 6 min- ute headway will be provided in the peak hours as compared with a 7 minute headway in the past. Of particular interest to the Park territory is the better service provided that community. The customary 6 minute headway will be rendered in the peak hours, but a 10 minute head- way will be given in the daytime and between 6:30 P. M. and 8:00 P. M. Also, a 12 minute headway is given after 8:00 P. M. whereas a 16 minute headway was formerly given after 10:00 P. M. 400. Rag Merchant—"Any beer bottles, lady?" Lady—"Do I look as if I drank beer?" Rag Merchant—"Well, vinegar bot- tles, lady?" Transfer Points We have endeavored to work out a system of transferring that would provide the maximum of convenience as well as safety, and itemize below the plan that will be in effect begin- ning Sunday May 17th. College to Sabine Park & Emmett College to Magnolia—Park & Emmett College to Park—Park & Royal College to Calder—Park & Emmett College to Avenue A (According to place boarding)—Royal & Ave A or Park & Franklin College to Laurel (According to plIce boarding)—Royal & Ave A or Park & Franklin College to Rosedale or Pinecrest-- Orleans & Crockett (No Transfers will be issued between College and Royal Lines) Royal to Sabine—Pari. & Emmett Royal to Magnolia (Board Magnolia Car at Pearl & Crockett)—Orleans & Crockett Royal to Park—Park & Emmett Royal to Calder (Board Calder Car at Pearl & Crockett)—Orleans & Crockett Royal to Avenue A— Avenue A & Royal Royal to Laurel—Orleans & Crockett Royal to Rosedale or Pinecrest-- Orleans & Crockett Two Scotsmen went fishing with an understanding that the first one to catch a fish was to buy the "soda." One got a bite that almost broke his line but refused to pull up. The other was fishing without bait. College Street Car Line Becomes New Bus Route Street car tracks on College stree will be abandoned and bus operatioi substituted effective May 17. The nev route will extend a block further ou College street to Avenue D making i down -town loop on Park from College to Crockett, down Crockett to Or leans, and on Orleans to College Transfers from this line can be made to the Sabine -Magnolia or Park -Cal der street car line at Pearl and Crock ett, and no transfers will be issuee to the Royal bus line. 400. Changes on Royal The route of the busses on the lool at the end of the ROYAL line wil be in one direction only, traveling of Avenue F to Corley, on Corley t( Avenue H, on Avenue H to Blanch ette, on Blanchette to Avenue F, ani on Avenue F to Royal. All busses wil be routed in that manner. The headway on the ROYAL lino which has been 10 minutes in the pas- has been changed to 12 minutes be cause of the light off-peak traffic dur ing the day. However, to compensate the slight reduction of headway dur ing the day off-peak, the schedub calls for a 12 minute headway during the night instead of the 15 minute headway given in the past. The peal headway will be 8 minutes instead o: 7% minutes. q, /x'31 The State of Texas, County of Jefferson Before me, the undersigned authority, on this day personally appeared ................................ tLR1L = ....known to me, who being By me duly sworn, on his oath de- --- ...
