'.:�''"Mir ENTITIED AN ORDINANCE ORDERING AN ELECTION TO HB HELD IN THIR CITY OF BEAUMONT TO I97EROLINE WH3TAER OR NOT SSRIAL BONDS OF SMD CITY SHALL BE ISSUED FOR THE PURPOSB OF IMPROVING AND EaUIPPING THE TYRRMLL PUBLIC PARS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING, EXTENDING AND EQUIPPING THE PUBLIC FAIR PARK OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONTi SAID BONDS TO BEAR INTEREST AT THB RATE OF 5% PER ANNUM, INTEH35ST ON ALL BONDS PAYABL3 ANNUALLY ON THE FIRST YEAR AND SEMI-ANNUALLY ON EACH Y3AR THEREAFTER, AND TO LEVY A TAX SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE INTER- EST OIC ALL SAID BONDS AND CREATE A SINKING FUND SUFFICIENT TO RETIRE THE SAME AT MATURITY; NAMING THE TIME AND PLACE OF HOLDING Sk"ID 31EC- TION AND APPOINTING OFFICERS THEREOF AND PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF HOLDING SAID ELECTION AND GIVING NOTICE TFIERSOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THS CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BF6WMONTt Section 1. That an: election be held in the City of Beaumont on the 6th day of July, 1929, at Which election the following propositions shall be sub- mittedt Section 2. Shall the City Commission of the City of Beaumont be authorized to issue serial bonds of said City for the following purposes and in the following amountat For the purpose of improving and equipping the Tyrrell Public Park of the City of Beaumont $ 100,000.00 For the purpose of improving, extending and equipping the Public Fair Park of the City of Beaumont 1759000.00 The said bonds to be payable in forty (40) annual installments as follows: 3,000.00 each year for the first ten years. 5,000.00 each year for the second ten years. $ 8,500.00 each year for the third ten years. $11,000.00 each year for the fourth ten years. All of said bonds to bear interest at the rate of Five (5,%) per cent per annum, interest on all bonds payable annually on the first year and semi-annually on each year thereafter, and to levy a tax sufficient to pay the interest on all said bonds and create gsinking fund sufficient to retire the same at :maturity. Section 3. Said election shall be held at the following places, to wit: In the First Ward at the. French High School Building, Averill School Building, and Central Fire Station. In the Second Ward at the City hall. In the Third Ward at the Jefferson County Court House, Sabine Pass Fire Station, and South Park Elementary School Building on Highland Avenue. Section 4. The following named persons are appointed presiding judges of their respective voting boxes, with the authority to select an appoint their own clerks; At the French High School Building, R. E. Woodham. At the Averill School Building, J. R. Edmonds. At the Central Fire Station, J. G. Fuqua. At the City Hall, S. E. Bigham. At the Jefferson County Court House, Mrs. L. M. IU&ry. At the Sabine Pass Fire Station, Mrs. Ben Pipkin. At the South Park elementary School Building, T. A. Allen. Section 5. The questions as to whether• or not the City Commission shall be authorized to issue said bonds shall be submitted in two propo- sitions, and there shall be printed on the ballot used in said election the following: FIRST PROPOS IT ION For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont in the sum of $100,000.00 for the purpose of improving and equipping the Tyrrell Public Park of the City of Beaumont. Against the issuance of serial bonds of the City cf Beaanmont in the sum of $190,000.00 for the purpose of improving and equipping the Tyrrell Public Park of the City of Beaumont. SECOND PROPOSITION For the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont. in the sum of $175,000.00 for the purpose of improving, extending and equipping the PmbFlic Fair Park of the City of Beaumont. Against the issuance of serial bonds of the City of Beaumont in the sum of $175,000.00 for the purpose of improving, extending and equipping the Public Fair Park of the City of Beaumont. And all voters desiring to support the proposition to issue said bonds, or any of them, shall run a line through or across that section of each proposition which he desires to support reading on the ballot beginning with the words, "Against the issuance of serial bonds"; and all voters desiring to vote against the proposition to issue said bonds, or any of them, shall run a line through or across that section of each proposition which he opposes printed on the ballot beginning with the words, "For the issuance of serial bonds." Section 6. Said election shall be held under the provisions oP the Stais law governing elections and only qualified voters who pay taxes on property in the City of Beaumont as defined by the Constitution and Laws of the State of Texas, shall be allowed to vote at said electron. -2- &PIC. ��Iy Section 7. A copy of this ordinance, signed by the Mayor of the City of Beaumont and attested by the City Clerk of the City of Beaumont, shall serve as proper and sufficient notice of said election, and the Mayor is hereby directed to cause one each of said notices to be posted at each of the places designated for holding said election, at least thirty (30) days prior to the data of holding said election, and the person posting said notices shall make a return on the copy thereof showing the time and place of said posting, the. return shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk and shall be conclusive evidence of the posting of said notice, and a copy of this ordinance shall be published once each week for a period of thirty (30) days before the day of holding said election, in a newspaper of general circulation which has been continuously and regularly published in the City of Beaumont for a period of one year prior to the date of the passage of this ordinance. Passed this 4th day of June, A. D. 1929, by the affirmative vote of all members of the City Commission of the City of Beaumont present.
