AN ORDINANCE
COISINING AND CONSOLIDATING THE. DEPARMIENTS OF LAW, FINANCE,
GENERAL, SAFETY, SERVICE AND WELFARE OF THE CITY OF BEAMiONT INTO ONE
DEPARTMENT TO BE IMM"M A'S THE GENE$AL DEPARTMENT, AND TRANSFERRING THE
FUNDS OF SAID DEPART11ENTS INTO SAID GENERAL DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the administration of the affairs of the City of
Beaumont is now Derformed by six (6) departments known as the Depart-
ment of law, the Department of Finance, General Department, Department
of Safety, Department of Service, and Department of Welfare, and the
funds of all of said Denartments are reouired by the Charter to be
kept separate, and it often occurs that one-Denartment may have a -
surplus while another Dena.rtraent has a deficit, and the City of Beaumont
is reouired to pay six per cent (6%) interest on funds borrowed to
cover such deficits and receives only three per cent (30) interest
or. its surplus, and the bookkeeping and clerical work entailed by
dividing the functions of the City into many Departments is greatly
increased, and a saving can be made by consolidating said Departments
and the funds thereof, and whereas such consolidation has been recom-
mended by the auditors employed to audit the accounts of the City of
Beaumont.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TIS CITY COMISSION
OF TH CITY OF BEAUTJONT;
SECTION -1-
That in accordance with Section 49 of the ChArter of -the City
of Beaumont, the Dens.rtments of Law, Finance, General, Safety,. Service
and Welfare of the City of Beaumont be and they are hereby combined and
consolidated into one Department to be known as the General Department.
SECTION 2.
All of the funds of said Departments of Law, Finance, General,
S-fety, Service and Welfare are hereby transferred to said General
Den art me nt .
Passed by the affirmative vote of all members of the City Com-
