AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDI MNCE ORDERING AN ELECTICK TO BE HELD IN
THE BEAUMO NP INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, THAT IS TO SAY, ALL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMOTdT_AND IN ADDITIGN THERETO THE FOLLOWING
DESCRIBED TERRITORY:
Beginning at a point on the dividion line between
the Beaumont City School District and the French School
District, where said line intersects the North line of
the Averill Addition to the City of'Beaumont, Texas;
'Thence in a'west and southwestern direction with
the north line' of said Averill Addition to i:ts--northwest
corner; -thence due west to the division line between
the French School District and. -the Amelia School District;
thence south with ' sa id west line - of said French School
District to -its southwest corner; -thence east with the
south"line' of the said -French School District to the di-
vision line -between said District and the Beaumont City
School District; thence north with said division line to
the place of beginning;
and - except - the territory belonging- to'the 'South'Park Independent
School District and the French Independent School ' District, as now
existing, excepting the territory above described, embraced -within
the 'boundaries of the City -of' Beaumont, including the above territory
described -metes and - bounds# to determine-- whether - or hot -bonds of

Section 1.
That' an`election -shall-be'held in the Beaumont Independent
School District, that is to say; all of. the 01tyr6f" Beaumont, and
in addition thereto the following described' -territory:
Beginning At a -point oii the -_division line -between

District; where - said line intersects the North line`o_f
the Averill Addition to the City Iof- Beaumont, Texas;

the 'north' line of - said Averill- Addition -'to- its' northwest

the French -School District- and the Amelia School District;

1. Shall the City Commission. of the City of Beaumont be authorized to
issue serial bonds of said City for the following purposes in the following
amounts:
For the purpose of constructing a senior high school building of
brick, stone, or concrete material and the purbha.sing of the necessary site
therefor, $900,000, said bonds to be in denomination of One Thousand Dollars
($1,000) each and payable in forty installments, approximately as follows:
Nine Thousand Dollars ($9,000) each for the first ten years, $18,000 each
for the second ten years, $27,000 each for the third ten years, $36,000 each
for the fourth ten years, and bearing interest atl.the rate of 42� per annum,
interest payable on all bonds semi-annually, and �to levy a tax sufficient to
pay the interest on all of said bonds and create a sinking fund sufficient
to redeem the same at maturity.
11. Shall the City Commission of the City of Beaumont be authorized to
issue serial bonds of said City for the following purposes and in the follow-
ing amouhts:
For the purpose of constructing a negro high school of brick, stone,
or concrete material and the necessary additions, repairs•, and improvements
of buildings now in use, and the purchase of additional sites therefor,
$600,000, said bonds to be in denomination of One `Thousand Dollars ($1,000)
each and payable in -forty installments, approximately as follows: Six Thous-
and Dollars (06,000) each for the first ten years, Twelve Thousand Dollars
($12,000) each for the second ten years, Eighteen Thousand Dollars (,$185000)
each for the third ten years, and Twenty -Four `thousand Dollars ($24,000)
each for the fourth ten years,'and bearing interest at the rate of 4-1% per
annum, interest payable semiannually, and to levy a tax sufficient to pay
the interest on said bonds and create a sinking fund sufficient to redeem the
same at maturity.
Section 2.
Said election shall be held at the following places, to -wit:
In the First Ward at the Central Fire Station,
In the Second `lard at the- City- Hall
Tn the Third Ward at the Jefferson County Court House,
Sabine Pass Ave. Hire Station.
Section 3.
The following named persons are appointed presiding judges of the
respective voting boxes in said wards, with the authority to select their
own clerks:
At the Central Fire Station, C.A. Ganoung
At the Gladys Street Fire Station, Frank Calhoun
At the City Hall, S.E. Bigham
At the Jefferson County Court House,tWo. 0. Banks
At the Sabine Pass Ave. -:E'ire Station_, Chas. Carroll

Section 4.
The propositions to be vded upon at said election shall be submitted
in the. following form:
1. The question as to whether or not the City Commission shall be
authorized to issue serial bonds for the construction of a high school build-
ing shall be submitted in the following form, and there shall be printed upon
the ballot used in said election the following:
"For the issuance of bonds of the City of Beaumont
in the sum of yp900,000 for the construction of a
senior high school building of brick, stone, or
concrete material., and the purchasing of the
necessary site therefor."
"Against the issuance of bonds of the City of
Beaumont in the sum of �$900,000 for the con-
struction of a senior high school building of
brick, stone, or concrete material, and the
purchasing of the necessary site therefor."
-All voters desiring to-s-uppoj?t'the'pr'oposition-to.issue said
bonds shall run 'a line throtigh',br across thesectionof said

the issuance of bonds".

shall serve as proper and -sufficient notice of -said election, and
the Mayor is heriaby directed- to' cause one of -each of said notices
to be posted at each of the, places designated-for_holding said
election,. -at least thirty -(30)'days priorr-t6 the date of holding
of said- election; and the person posting said notices shall make a
return on' the copy thereof showing the time and place of said posting.,
which return -shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk., and
shkll be conclusive evidence of the 'posting- of said notice,, and a
