HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 44-UAN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND CLOSING OF SYLL STREET LYING BETWEEN GILES STREET AND FLORIDA STREET IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT. WHEREAS, the Mazzu Addition to The City of Beaumont has been replatted, and in said replat Syll Street between Giles Street and Florida Street was closed; and, WHEREAS, the abutting property owners are requesting that said Syll Street be officially closed by ordinance passed by the City Council of The City of Beaumont; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE,CITY Or BEAUMONT: That Syll Street, lying between Giles Street and Florida Street in The City of Beaumont, be, and the same is hereby, authorized to be vacated and closed, and that the title to said vacated and closed portion of Syll Street shall revert to and become the property of the owners of the land abutting on said vacated and closed portion of said Syll Street, as provided by law. 1949• PASSED by the City Council this 30th day of August, A. D. - Mayor - August 30, 1949 Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Beaumont City Hall Beaumont, T e x a s Re, -Request to close Syll Street between Giles Street and Florida Street Gentlemen :- This is to request that you close by ordinance Syll Street between Giles Street and Florida Street and in support of this request the following facts are submitted. Syll Street was originally dedicated in the Mazzu Addition to the City of Beaumont a great number of years ago. It was approximately 4751 long and.601 in width, and extended from Giles Street to Florida Street. Since its dedication it has never been graded or improved or used as a thoroughfare and the abutting property was and is owned by the undersigned, John B. Goodhue, at all times material to this request. In order to better utilize this property and in the interest of uniformity with adjoining subdivisions It was necessary to replat and rededicate Blocks 3, 4 and 6 of the 'Mazzu Addition. To accomplish that purpose the undersigned, John B. Goodhue, being the owner of all of Blocks 3, 4 and 6 of the Mazzu Addition joined with the own- ners of all of the adjoining Block 22 and the East one-half of Block 21 of the Iowa Colony Subdivision and resubdivided these .blocks into College Place Second Addition. This re- subdivision was approved by the City Planning and Zoning Commission by Certificate dated July 12, 1948 and a map there- of was filed of record with the County Clerk of Jefferson County, Texas, bearing File No. 253970. Photostatic copy of such map is attached hereto. r In order to_accomplish the desired purposes Syll Street was omitted from the replat. Its approximate location as it existed prior to the resubdivision is shown in red on the attached map.
