AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE OPTIONAL PAYMENT IN INSTALMENTS OF AD VALOR9K.TAXES.HERE- TOFORE LEVIED FOR THE YEAR 1949; PROVIDING FOR THE DATES SAID INSTALMENTS MAY BEMADE, AND PRO- VIDING WHEN PENALTY AND INTEREST SHALL ACCRUE. WHEREAS, The City of Beaumont, by Ordinance passed the 30th day of August, A.D. 1949, levied for municipal purposes only an ad valorem tax of One Dollar and Sixty-four Cents ($1.64) on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars worth of property located with- in the present City limits of The City of Beaumont made taxable by law; and, WHEREAS, there has been a demand for the purpose of paying said taxes in instalments; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the ad valorem taxes levied for the year 1949 for munic- ipal purposes may be paid at the option of the taxpayer in instal- ments as follows: One half (1/2) on or before December 31, 1949; One half (1/2) on or before May 31, 1950. Section 2. If the taxpayer makes the instalment payment on or before the due dates mentioned in Section 1 of this ordinance, no charge for interest or penalty shall be made by the Tax Collector. If the first instalment payment is not paid prior to December 31, 1949, the full amount of the tax shall become due and payable on or be- fore January 31, 1950. If the second instalment is not paid on or before the 31st day of May, 1950, the unpaid balance shall be con- sidered delinquent as of February 1, 1950, and penalty and interest as provided by law will be charged from said date.
