HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 42-Uc"A( AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND COLLECT- ING OF AD VALOREM AND OTHER TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1949 FOR THE PURPOSE OF.PAYING THE GENERAL OPERA- TING EXPENSES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ANDPROVIDING A SINKING FUND TO.MEET THE PAYMENT OF ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF,THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AND THE PAY- MENT OF.ACCRUING INTEREST THEREON; PROVIDING FOR THE.PAYMENT OF OCCUPATION TAX AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for -the year 1949, for municipal purposes only, an ad valorem tax of One Dollar and Sixty-four Cents ($1.64) on each One Hundredt._Dollars worth of property located within the present City limits of The City of Beaumont, made tax- able by law, which said taxes when collected shall be for the pur- pose hereinafter set forth as follows, to wit: For the General Fund $1.12 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund for the payment of the entire bonded indebtedness of The City of Beaumont .52 Section 2. That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall be collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupa- tional tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one half of the amount so levied by the State of Texas, on each respec- tive occupation or calling in The City of Beaumont. Section 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this Ordinance is for any reason held invalid or uncon- stitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof. PASSED this the 30th day of August, A.D. 1949, by the City Council of The City of Beaumont. - Mayor - &A F '" bus - AN ORDINANCE APPORTIONING A TAX OF FIFTY-TWO (8.52) CENTS ON EACH ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS VALUATION OF ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE PRESENT LIMITS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS,.LEVIED AND ORDERED COLLECTED BY AN ORDINANCE PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON THE 30TH DAY OF AUGUST,.A.D. 1949, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE INTEREST AND CREATING A.SINKING FUND FOR THE BOND ACCOUNTS THEREIN MENTIONED AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the tax of fifty-two ($.52) cents on each one hundred dollars valuation of all taxable property within the limits of The City of Beaumont heretofore levied for interest and sinking fund accountsand ordered collected by an Ordinance passed'by the City Countil of The City of Beaumont on the 30th day of August, A.D. 1949, be and the same is hereby apportioned among the various in- terest and sinking funds as follows: To the interest and sinking fund of Airport Bonds No. 1, dated July 1, 1929, Five and Eight -tenths mills 0.005$). Section 3.
