HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 39-UC&K 44 8/19/49 0-3 AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK OF IMPROVING MADDOX STREET, FROM THE SOUTH LINE OF IOWA AVENUE TO THE NORTH LINE OF FLORIDA AVENUE; FLORIDA AVENUE FROM THE EAST LINE OF MADDOX STREET TO MAZZU AVENUE; GILES STREET, FROM THE EAST LINE OF HIGHLAND AVENUE TO THE WEST LINE OF MADDOX STREET; JOSEPH STREET, FROM THE EAST LINE OF HIGHLAND AVENUE TO THE WEST LINE OF MADDOX STREET, IN THE COLLEGE PLACE SECOND ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, - TEXAS, ALL OF SAID UNITS BEING DESCRIBED AS UNIT NO. 1, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT :- SECTION 1. That the work of improving the f o ll owing .describe d streets in the City of Beaumont, Texas, to -wit :- MADDOX STREET, from the South line of Iowa Avenue to the North line of Florida Avenue; .FLORIDA -AVENUE from the East line of Maddox Street to Mazzu' Avenue; GILES STREET, from the east line of Highland Avenue to the West line of Maddox Street; JOSEPH STREET, from the east line of Highland Avenue to the West line of Maddox Street; by raising, grading, filling, widening, paving or repairing same by the construction or reconstruction of a flexible base pavement of processed base pavement with a hot -mix asphaltic concrete wearing sur- face and an inverted concrete curb and by the construction of such storm sewers and drainage facilities and other necessary incidentals and appurtenances, all of the type and width as provided for in the Plans and Specifications therefor prepared by the City Engineer, and heretofore adopted by the City Council, all of said improvements being as provided for and described in said Plans and Specifications, designat- ed as Unit No. 1, and all of same having been performed and completed in full accordance with all the terms and provisions of the Contract dated October 20, 1948, between said City of Beaumont, Texas, and Trotti & Thomson, Inc., and said Plans and Specifications therein, contained; and said Engineer having measured., examined and caused to --be tested --_--- the finished improvements by the means and in the manner provided by the terms of said Contract and the Plans and Specifications therein contained, and said City Engineer having found that such improvements have been constructed and completed in full compliance with all pro- visions of said Contract and said Plans and Specifications, and said City Engineer having approved and accepted said work and improvements and having heretofore issued his Certificate of Final Acceptance, and so certified to said City Council and recommending that said City Council accept and receive said work and the improvements as constructed and completed by said Trotti & Thomson, Tnc., and said work and im- provements having been examined and found by the Mayor and the City Council of said City of Beaumont, Texas, to have been performed and completed in full compliance with the terms and provisions of said Contract and. said Plans and Specifications therefor, the same are hereby accepted and received by said City Council of the City bf Beaumont, Texas. MAYOR Carr ---2- oF' 1E3P.AUMoiqT BE�.vMo�r, TEXAS if - August 19, 191,.9 To the Mayor and City Council City of Beaumont, Texas Gentlement In accordance with the proceedings heretofore had by your Honorable Body pertaining to the improvement of College Place 2nd Addition, I wish to inform you that the contractor, Trotti & Thomson., Incus has performed and completed all the work in improving said streets in full accordance with the plans, specifications and the con- tract therefor dated October 20, 1948, said work being more particularly described as the construction thereupon of a six inch Flexible Base Pavement and one and one-half inches Hot Mix Asphaltic Concrete Surfac- ing with Inverted Concrete Curb and Gutter Type 1, and drainage lines and facilities and other appurtenances to such work, I have examined the work done as per that certain contract of October 20., 1948, and find that the contractor, Trotti & Thomson, Inc., has completed the work in a proper and highly satisfactory manner, and in full accordance with the plans, specifications and the contract referred to herein_, Therefore., I recommend that the City Council accept and receive this work, Respectfully OW R. eyrie Black City Engineer City of Beaumont., Texas
