HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 34-UF' a AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND ABANDONING OF AN ALLEY IN BLOCK 342 CARTWRIGHT TERRACE ADDITION, ACCORDING. TO. THE CITY MAP THEREOF OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT. Yff EREAS,, a petition signed by the property owner of the property located in Block 34, Cartwright Terrace Addition, according to the City Map thereof of the City of Beaumont, has been presented to the City Council. of the City of Beaumont requesting that the alley in Block 34, Cartwright Terrace Addition be vacated and abandoned; and, AREAS, said petition has been referred to the City Planning Com- mission om mission for examination and approval and the same has been approved by the said Commission; and, MHEREAS, said petition has been duly canvassed and examined by the City Council and has been found to have been signed by the property owner adjacent to said alley, and it appearing to the City Council that the request of the property owner should be granted and that an ordinance should be en- acted vacating and abandoning said alley, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT that said alley located in Block 34, Cartwright Terrace Addition, be and the same is hereby authorized to be vacated and abandoned, and that the title to such alley shall revert to and become the property of the owner of the property bordering on said alley as'provided by law. PASSED by the City Council this 28th day of June, A. D. 1.919® - Mayor - REGULAR SESSION OF THE CITY PLANNING COIZIISSION HELD JUNE 133 1949 BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Planning Commission of the City of Beaumont, Texas, met in regular session on the 13th day of June, 1949, with the follow— ing present: Mi,. C, B. Holland, Chairman Miss Florence McCluskey, Secretary Mr. P. G. I1atthews Mr. Leonard Stone Mr. K. C. Withers Absent: Mr. C. E. Holland Mr. Russell Phelps Others Present: Mr. C. W. Duperier, Tyrrell—Combest Mr. Fred Sandlin, South Amelia Addition was presented by Mr. Duperier and Mr Sandlin to the Commission for preliminary approval. A motion was made by Mr. Matthews that this approval be given and that this addition be listed as number IX by the Planning Commission. Motion seconded by Miss McCluskey and unanimously approv— ed. 0— Mr. Matthews moved that it be recommended to the City Council that the alley in Block 14 of Oakwood Addition be closed. Motion seconded by Miss McCluskey and passed by the Commission. A request was also made for the closing of the alley in Block 34 of Cartwright Terrace Addition. Mr. Matthews moved that this recommendation be made to the City Council and Miss McCluskey seconded the motion which was unanimously \ approved. A motion was made by Mr. K. C. Withers that Mr. Holland appear before the City Council on Tuesday, June 14th and recommend for the third time that the names of East Drive and of Delaware and French Drive be changed. Also that Harrison from Fifteenth to Nineteenth Street be opened and Gladys from Eleventh f to East Drive in Calder Highlands be opened and made an 801 right—of—way. This motion was seconded by Mr. Matthews and unanimously approved. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by Chairman Hol— land. /s/ C. B. Holland Chairman f 2.
