HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 20-Ur R d 1 AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND CLOSING OF HORKANS AVENUE FROM ITS BEGINNING AT LINCOLN STREET TO ITS END WHICH TERMINATES ABOUT ONE BLOCK NORTH OF LINCOLN STREET IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT. zz / (n f WHEREAS, The City Engineer of The City of Beaumont has pro- posed that Horkans Avenue from its beginning at Lincoln Street to its end -which terminates about one block north of Lincoln Street in The City of Beaumont be vacated and closed, in order to promote the best interest and benefit of the public; and, WHEREAS, the said proposal has been referred to the City Plan - ping and Zoning Commission for study, investigation and recommenda- tion to the City Council as to whether such proposal should be approved, and the City Planning and Zoning Commission has thouough- ly studied and investigated said proposal and recommended to the City Council that the approval of the said proposal would be to the best interest and benefit of the public, and that said proposal should, therefore, be approved; and, WHEREAS, it for the best interest of The City of Beaumont and benefit to the public that the above mentioned Street be vacated and closed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: That Horkans Avenue from its beginning at Lincoln Street to its.end which terminates about one block north of Lincoln Street be and the same is hereby authorized to be vacated and closed, and that the title to said vacated and closed street shall revert to and become the property of the owners of the land abutting on said vacated and closed street, as provided by law. A move was made by Mr. Phelps and seconded by Mr. Stone that recommendation be -made to the City Council that request be granted.
