HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 11-UAN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND CLOSING OF THAT PORTION OF TENTH STREET LYING NORTH OF THE NORTH RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF HIGH- WAY 90; AND AUTHORIZING THE VACATING AND CLOSING OF.ALL OF ISLA STREET IN THE EKKA, REED ADDITION IN THE CITY -OF BEAUMONT. WHEREAS, a portion of the Emma Reed Addition to The City of Beaumont was purchased from J. Jo Johns for Highway 90 right-of-way purposes, same being a strip running from the Eastern boundary of said Addition to the Western boundary of said Addition; and, WHEREAS, the said strip purchased for the right of way runs through Tenth Street leaving a small portion,of said Tenth Street lying north of the said right of way, and after the Highway is constructed same will be inaccessible to the other southern part of said Tenth Street, and said right of way lying south of Isla Street makes said Street impractical and useless according to the original plan of said Emma Reed Addi- tion, and, WHEREAS, the said J. J. Johns is the owner of all of the Emma Reed Addition lying north of north of the Highway 90 right of way and desires to replat same and rededicate streets in same; and, WHEREAS, the City -Council is of the opinion that it is for the best interest of the City of Beaumont in the future development of that area that Isla Street and that portion of Tenth Street lying north of the Highway 90 right of way -be closed and vacated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: That the portion of Tenth Street lying north of the Highway 90 C(el' 1 -64- ( I f right of way in Emma Reed Addition, and all of Isla Street in Emma Reed Addition to The City of Beaumont be and the same are hereby authorized to be vacated and closed and that the title to said vacated and closed portion of -said Streets shall revert to and become the property of the owners of the land abutting on said vacated and closed portions of said Tenth Street and Isla Street as provided by law. PASSED by the City Council this the 18th day of January, A.D. 1949.
