AN ORDINANCE ENTITLEDAN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE OPTIONAL PAYMENT IN INSTALMENTS OF -AD VALOREM TAXES HERE- TOFORE LEVIED FOR THE YEAR 194$; PROVIDING FOR THE DATES SAID INSTALMENTS MAY BE MADE. -AND -PRO- VIDING WHEN.PENALTY AND INTEREST SHALL ACCRUE. WHEREAS, The City of Beaumont by ordinance passed the 31st day of August, A.D. 194$, levied for municipal purposes only an ad valorem tax of One Dollar and. Seventy-four Cents ($1.74) on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars worth of property located within the present City. Limits of The City of Beaumont made taxable.by law; and, WHEREAS; there has been a demand for the purpose of paying said taxes in instalments; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the ad valorem taxes levied for the year 194$ for municipal purposes may be paid at the option of the taxpayer in instalments as follows: One half (1/2) on or before December 31, 1948. One half (1/2) on or before May 31, 1949. Section 2. If the taxpayer makes the instalment payment on or before the due dates mentioned in Section 1 of this ordinance no charge for interest or penalty shall be made by the Tax Collector. If the first instalment payment is.not paid prior to December 31, 194$0 the full amount of the tax shall become due and payable on or before January -31, 1949. If the second instalment is not paid on or before the;;3,lst day of May, 1949, the unpaid balance shall be considered delinquent as of February 1, 1949, and penalty and interest as provided by law will be charged from said date.
