ONE-111AY . STREET FOR. VEHICULAR TRAFFIC; PRE'SCRIBING.A PENALTY; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, AND_PROVIDING..A SAVINGS.CLAUSE.. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1.. One -Way Street. It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of any motor or horse-drawn vehicle to drive same on the following described portion of the following named street except in the direction specified when signs indicating the direction of traffic are erected and maintained at every intersection where movement in the opposite direction is prohibited: Woodrow Street from its intersection with High- land Avenue to its intersection with Granberry Street, traffic to move in a westerly direction only. The provisions of this section shall be construed as establishing what is commonly known as a "One -Way Street" on the street named and between the points described; and the purpose of said provision is to make it unlawful to drive said vehicles into or upon said area of said street except in the direction named. Section 2. Pence Any person, firm, association, partnership or corporation violating any of the terms hereof shall be deemed guilty of a mis3 demeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not to exceed One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars. Section 3. This ordinance shall be and is hereby declared to be cumu- lative of all ordinances in The City of Beaumont, Texas, and shall r 1�_C _A-7 not operate to repeal, or effect any such ordinance or ordinances except in so far as the provisions of such ordinance or ordinances are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this ordi-. nance, in which instance or instances these provisions shall be and they are hereby repealed® Section L. Should any section, provision or part of this ordinance be declared to be unconstitutional and void by a court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall in no way effect the validity of any of the remaining parts.of this ordinance, unless the parts held unconstitutional or void are inseparable from and indispensable to the operation of the remaining parts® The City Council hereby de- clares that it would have passed those parts of this ordinance which are valid and.omitted any parts which may be unconstitutional if it had known that such parts were unconstitutional at the time of the passage of _this ordinance. 1948. Southwell, Director., Traffic Planning Division Subject: One-way on Woodrow Street between Highland 8c Grandberry Sts. COMMENT: We have had a request from the South Park School Board to convert a portion of Woodrow Street, between Highland and Grandberry, from a two-way street to one-way, travel in a westerly direction. 1 -- We have investigated this request which also meets the approval of the Traffic Committee. Therefore, we recommend that Woodrow Street between Highland and Grandberry be changed from a two-way street to one-way and that this request be approved by City Council. Tours very truly, J. D.
