HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 26-TAN ORDINANCE ANNEXING THE HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, AND EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF SAID CITY SO AS TO INCLUDE SAID HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY LIMITS, AND GRANTING TO ALL THE INHABITANTS OF SAID PROPERTY -ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS AND BINDING SAID INHABITANTS BY ALL OF THE ACTS, ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS AND REGULATIONS OF SAID CITY. WHEREAS, the following described property lies immediate- ly adjacent to The City of Beaumont and, Beginning on the right bank of the waterts edge of the Neches River where the centerline of Car- roll Avenue in the Neches River Park Addition to The City of Beaumont strikes the river; Thence south with the centerline of Carroll Ave- nue to a point opposite the southwest corner of the C. C. Caswell 256.6 -acre tract; Thence .east with the southern boundary line of said Caswell tract to the east side of the Tex- arkana and Fort Smith Railway Companyts right of way, said point being on the west line of the Magnolia Petroleum Company's property and also being the southeast corner,of the portion of the Caswell Tract owned by the Port of Beaumont; Thence North along the said west line of the Magnolia Petroleum Company property or the east line of said portion of the Caswell Tract owned by the Port of Beaumont and the Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company to the right bank of the water's edge of the Neches River; Thence westward and southwestward along the right bank of the water's edge of the Neches River to the place of beginning; WHEREAS, the City Council of The City of Beaumont is of the opinion that it is to the best interest of the citizens of The City of Beaumont and to the present and future owners and inhabitants of the above described property that said territory be annexed to and become a part of the corporate limits of The City of Beaumont, so that said territory may be assured of an adequate water and sewage service and adequate health regula- tions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT.ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: That the following described property, to wit: Beginning on the right bank of the water's edge of the Neches River where the centerline of Carroll Avenue in the Neches River Park Addition to the City of Beaumont strikes the river; Thence south with the centerline of Carrol Avenue to a point opposite the southwest cor- ner of the C.C. Caswell 256.6 -acre tract; Thence east with the southern boundary line of said Caswell tract to the east side of the Texarkana and Fort Smith Railway Company's right of way, said point being on -the west line of the Magnolia Petroleum Company's pro- perty and also being the southeast corner of the portion of the Caswell Tract owned by the Port of Beaumont; Thence North along the said west line of the Magnolia Petroleum.Company property or the east line of the said portion of the Caswell Tract owned by the Port of Beaumont and the Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Company to the right bank of the water's edge of the Neches River; Thence westward and southwestward along the right bank of the water's edge of the Neches River to the place of beginning, be and the same is hereby annexed to The City of Beaumont, Jef- ferson County, Texas, for municipal purposes only, and that the boundary limits of The City of Beaumont be and the same are hereby extended to include the above described territory within the city limits of The City.of Beaumont, and the same shall hereafter be included within the territorial limits of said City, and the inhabitants thereof shall hereafter be entitled to all rights and privileges of other citizens of The City of Beaumont, and they shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, reso- lutions and regulations of said City.
