MALETT, ET UX TO PURCHASE CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICERS TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER QUITCLAIM DEED TO PURCHASER OF SAME, PREAMBLE [WHEREAS, on the 21s-t day of -March A.D., 1940, the City of Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against Sandy Mollette and Elvina Fones and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following described property, to -wit: Being the West one-half of Lots 1 & 2, in Block 1, Harrison Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per map or plat of said addition of record in the office of the * County Clerk, Jefferson County, Texas; and, WHEREAS, on the 5th day -of September A.D., 1944, the City of Beaumont purchased said aboved escribed property at public auction in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien; and, WHEREAS, on. the 5th day of September A.D.., 19449 W. W. Richard- son, Sheriff.of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed and.delivered unto the City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described property in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed was recorded the 8th day of February A.D., 1945; and, WHEREAS, on the 12th day of -,May A.D., 19489 J. A. Malett and wife, Ethel Mae Malett, offered to purchase all of.the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described property for the sum of One Hundred, Thirty-three and 33/100 Dollars; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that such s ale is_ for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be consummated; Now, therefore; be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Beaumont that the aforesaid offer to purchase the above described property is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont a quitclaim deed conveying unto J. A. Malett and wife, Ethel Mae Malett, all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described property derived by reason of said Sheriff's deed.
