HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 56-EEAN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH BEAUMONT MOTOR COMPANY FOR THE PURCHASE OF A -CAB AND CHASSIS TRUCK FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING AND COLLECTING OF THE TAX NECESSARY TO PAY THE INTEREST AND CREATE A SINKING FUND TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL ON THE PURCHASE PRICE. OF SAID TRUCK. WHEREAS, on November 27, 1962, The City of Beaumont re- ceived bids for furnishing a cab and -chassis truck for the Fire Department upon which to mount a light plant; and, WHEREAS., Beaumont Motor Company submitted a bid in the sum of $2,646.98 for furnishing the said truck; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the bid submitted by Beaumont Motor Company is the lowest and best bid and should be accepted and contract entered into with said company for said truck; and, WHEREAS, the purchase price of the said truck will be paid with a time warrant payable two (2) years after date of issuance and bearing interest at the rate of 3% per annum, issued by The City of Beaumont pursuant to authority granted by the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas; NOW', THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINER BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1. That.A. K. Steinheimer, City Manager, be, and he is hereby, authorized to execute the contract with Beaumont Motor Company, dated.December 1,; 1962, for furnishing a 1963 Chevrolet Cab and Chassis Truck, Model No. C 6203, for the sum of $2,646.98. Section 2. That for the purpose of paying the interest on said purchase price and to create a sinking fund to pay the principal on same, a sufficient tax on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollar valuation of all taxable property in The City of Eeaumont, Texas, shall be annually levied,on said property and annually assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.
