AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY'MANAGER
TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MARY LAMPMAN LEE. GODEAUXI
ET VIR., FOR THE 'PURCH,ASE OF A TRACT OF LAND IN THE
W. B. DYCHES SURVEY1 MORE FULLY DESCRIBED HEREIN;'
AND -PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING AND COLLECTING OF THE
T&X NECESSARY TO PAY THE INTEREST AND CREATE.A SINK-
ING FUND TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL ON THE PURCHASE PRICE
OF.SAID LAND.
WHEREAS., the City Council finds that it is necessary to
acquire the fee simple title to the -following described property;
All that certain tract or parcel -of land' a part of
the W. B. Dyches Survey, in Jefferson -County., Texas
described by metes and bounds as follows., to wit. -
Beginning at the -intersection of the East line of
Lampman Drive with the South line of State Highway
No. 105;
Thence South along the East line .of Lampman.Dri.ve
168.97'feet to stake for corner;
Thence.East parallel to the South line of State High-
way 105, 150 feet to stake for corner;
Thence North 168.97 feet to. the South line of Stat-e
Highway 105;
Thence West along the South line of State Highway 1059
150.feet to the place of beginning, and being out of
the North 1/2 of Lot No. Four (4) -of a subdivi.sioii. of
the G. R. and Frances Buckner Homestead Tract in said
W. B. Dyches Survey;
for the purpose of using said land for municipal purposes-; and.,
WHEREASy the City Council finds that the sum of $4.,250.00
represents the fair cash market value of said property;. and..
WHEREAS., Mary Lampman Zee Godeaux and husbands Elton E.
Godeauxv are the owners of said land and are willing to sell the same
to The City of Beaumont for the sum of.money above set forth; and
WHEREAS, a contract for the sale of said land to The City of
Beaumont has been prepared and the City Council finds that it is in
the'best interest of the.City to execute same; and.,
WHEREAS). the purchase price of said land will be.paid with.a
time warrant payable two. (2 ) years after date of issuance and bear:.
ing interest at the rate of 3% per.annum' issued by The City of Beau-
mont pursuant to. authority granted by the Constitution -and Statutes.
of the State of Texas;,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT.,
TEXAS.:
Section 1.
That A. K. Steinheimer, City Manager, he, and he is hereby,
authorized to execute the _contract with Mary Lampman Lee Godeaux and
husband, Elton E,. Godeaux, for the sale.of the above described tract
of land to The City of Beaumont, for the sum of $4,2$0.00.
Section 2.
That for the purpose of paying the interest on said purchase
price and to ..create a sinking fund to pay the principal -on same, a
sufficient tax on. each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollar valuation .of all
taxable property in The City of Beaumont, Texas, shall be annually
leviedonsaid property.and annually assessed and collected and ap-
plied to the purpose named.

1962.
