ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ORDERING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS,
ON THE 8TH DAY OF MAY, 19625 AS PROVIDED BY THE CHAR-
TER OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ELECTING A MAYOR AND FOUR COUNCILMEN; NAMING THE
PLACES AT WHICH SAID ELECTION SHALL BE HELD; APPOINT-
ING JUDGES TO PRESIDE OVER SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING
THE MANNER OF HOLDING SAID ELECTION, AND GIVING NOTICE
THEREOF.
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the City Charter of The
City of Beaumont and the laws of the State of Texas relating thereto,
a regular general municipal election is required to be held in The
City of Beaumont on the second Tuesday of May, 1962, for the purpose
of electing a Mayor and one Councilman from the First Ward, one
Councilman from the Second Ward, one Councilman from the Third Ward,
and one Councilman from the Fourth Ward;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
TEXAS:
Section 1.
That in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter of
The City of Beaumont and the laws of the State of Texas relating
thereto,, there shall be held in The City of Beaumont on the second
Tuesday in May, 1962, the same being the 8th day of May, 1962, a
regular municipal election for said City for the purpose of electing
a Mayor and one Councilman from the First Ward, one Councilman from
the Second Ward, one Councilman from the Third Ward, and one Council-
man from the Fourth Ward,'for. said City.
Section 2.
That said election shall be held in The City of Beaumont at
the following places, to wit:
Edwards School Building; French High School Building;
French Elementary School Building; Longfellow School
Building, Caldwood School Building; Averill School
Building, Junker School Building; Millard School
Building; County Court House Building; George Washing-
ton Carver School Building, Trinity Baptist Church
Building; Ogden School Building; David Crockett

Junior High School Building; Hebert School Building;
Giles School Building; L. R. Pietzsch School Build-
ing; South Park High School Building; Roy H. Guess
School Building; Amelia School Building; Tyrrell Park
Recreation Building; and Sallie Curtis School Build-
ing.
That all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 1
and 63 shall vote at the Edwards School Building; that all voters
residing in County Voting Precinct No. 2.shall vote at the French
High School Building; that all voters residing in County UVoting'Pre-
cinct No. 3 shall vote at the French Elementary School Building; that
all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No,. 4 shall vote at the
Longfellow School Building; that all voters.residing in County Voting
Precincts Nos. 5 and 17 shall vote at the Caldwood School Building;
that all voters residing in County Voting -Precincts 6 and 7 shall
vote at the Averill School Building; that all voters residing,in
County Voting Precinct No. 8 shall vote at the Junker School Building;
that all voters residing in County Voting,Preci.ncts_Nos. 9-and 10
shall vote at the Millard School Building; that all voters residing
in County Voting Precinct No. 11 shall vote at the County Court House
Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 12
shall vote at the George Washington Carver School Building; that all
voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 13 shall vote at the
Trinity Baptist Church Building; that all voters residing in County
Voting Precinct No. 14 shall vote at the Ogden School Building; that
all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 15 and 16 shall
vote at the David Crockett Junior High School Building; that all voters
residing in County Voting Precinct -No. 188 shall vote at Hebert School
Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 19
shall vote at the Giles School Building; that all,voters residing in
County Voting -Precinct No. 20 shall vote at the L. R. Pietzsch School
Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 21
shall vote at the South Park High School Building; that all voters re-
siding in County Voting Precincts Nos. 22.and 23 shall vote at the
Roy H. Guess School Building; that all voters residing in County
Voting Precincts Nos. 26.and 27 shall vote at the Amelia School`Build-
ing; that all voters residing.in County Voting Precinct No. 28 shall
vote at the Tyrrell Park Recreation Building;,.and that' all voters rem
siding -,in County Voting�Precinct No. 62 shall vote at .the Sallie
Curtis School Building.
Section 3.
The following_ named persons are appointed presiding judges.
for -their respective voting.boxes, with the -authority to select and
appoint their own clerks:

That said election shall be held under, and the qualifications
-of those voting thereat, shall.be_c.ontrolled by.the provisions of the
State laws governing elections,.'
Section $.
That in accordance with the provisions -of the laws of the
State of Texas, voting machines shall be used forthe casting of ab-
sentee votes by personal.appearance at the city clerkts office, In
accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of Texas,
absentee votes by mail shall.be counted by a"special canvassing board
which shall be composed of Roy L. Gibbs, Edwin G.-Cordts, and Robert
E...Morgan. The Mayor i.s hereby,directed to cause a copy of this,ordi-
