AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING A
PORTION OF AVALON STREET NORTH OF THE PRESENT
HIGHWAY 90 NORTH RIGHT• -OF -WAY LINE AND THAT POR-
TION OF WEST COLLEGE STREET NORTH OF THE PRESENT
HIGHWAY 90 RIGHT -OF. -WAY LINE, IN THE, MAYFAIR'
ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUN-
TY, TEXAS, MORE FULLY DESCRIBED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Coun-
cil of The City of Beaumont, signed by the owners of the
property abutting the following described property, to wit:
All that portion of Avalon Street north.of the
present Highway 90 (College Street Extension)
north right-of-way line and that portion of West
College Street (Old Liberty Road - Old Highway
90) north of the present Highway 90 (College
Street Extension) right-of-way line, as shown on
map of Mayfair Addition, Chas. Williams League,
filed November 30, 1927, Recorded in Vol. 5, pg.
43, Map Records of Jefferson County, Texas, and
second dedication filed September 16, 1935, Re-
corded in Vol. 6, pg. 15, Map Records of Jefferson
County, Texas,
Save and except that parcel of land described as
follows:
Beginning at a point in the westerly extension of-.
said present Highway 90 north right. -of --way line.,
said point being twenty. -five (25) feet west of
the southwest corner of Lot 6A, Block C of the May-
fair Addition to the City of Beaumont;
Thence north, five (5) feet from and parallel to
the centerline, and its extension north, of Avalon
Street to the north right. -of -.way line of West Col-
lege Street (Old Liberty Road - Old Highway 90);
Thence west ten (10) feet along the north right�of.-
way line of said West College Street to a point
five (5) feet from, at right angles, the northerly
extension of the centerline of Avalon Street;
Thence south five (5) feet from and parallel to the
northerly extension of and the centerline of Avalon
Street to a point in the westerly extension of the
north right--of--way line of Highway 90 (College
Street Extension), said point being west thirty-five
(35) feet from the southwest corner of said Lot 6A,
Block C of the Mayfair Addition;
Thence east along the westerly extension of said
Highway 90 (College Street Extension) a distance of
ten (10) feet to the place of beginning;
requesting that said portion of Avalon Street and College Street
Extension be vacated and abandoned; and,
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that it is to
the best interest of The City of Beaumont and benefit to the pub-
lic that the above described portion of Avalon Street and College
Street Extension be vacated and abandoned;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
That the portion of'Avalon Street and College Street Extension
above described be, and the same is hereby, authorized to be
vacated and abandoned, and that title to said vacated and aban-
doned portion of Avalon Street and College Street Extension shall
revert to and become the property of the parties entitled thereto,
as provided by law.
