AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER
OF SAM F. CLIFTON TO PURCHASE
CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AUTHORI-
ZING PROPER CITY OFFICERS TO
EXECUTE AND IELIVER QUITCLAIM
DEED TO PURCHASER OF SAME.
PREAMBLE

WHEREAS, on the 7th day of December, A.D. , 19453,t_he City_ of
Beaumont recovered -a tax.- judgm-ent-agai-ns-t-Rosa Barkley and the un-
known heirs and legal representatives of E. R. Barkley, deceased,
and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following described
property, to -wit:
Lot 13, in Block 10, of the Booker Heights
Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas, as.per map or plat of said
addition of record in the office of the
County Clerk, Jefferson County, Texas; and,

�;. WHEREAS, on the 5th day of March, A.D., 1946, the City of
Beaumont purchased said abovedescribed property at public auction
in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien; and,
-WHEREAS, on the 6th day of March, A.D., 1946, W. W. Richardson,
Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed and delivered unto
the City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described property in
satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed was recorded
in Vol. 619, page 484, of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas,
on the 13th day of June, A.D.' 1946; and, 9
t1JHEREAS, on the 16th day of March, A.D., 1948, Sam F. Clifton
offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate
and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described property
for the sum of Seventy and 00/100 ($70.00) Dollars; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission is of the opinion that such aale is
for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and.should be consummated;
Now, therefore, be it ordained by the City Commission of the City
of Beaumont that the aforesaid offer to purchase the above described
property is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont a
quitclaim deed conveying unto Sam F. Clifton all ofthe right, title,
interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above
described property derived by reason of said Sheriff's deed.

hereunto duly -authorized by Ordinance of the City Commission; a eerti-.

for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy and 00/100 (70.00)
cash in hand paid to the City of Beaumont by Sam F. Clifton$ the re-
ceipt of which is hereby ackno*,71edged and confeosed, has quitclaimed
and by these presents does quitclaim unto the said Sam F. Clifton
all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the
City of Beaumont in and to the following described property, to-ivit;
Lot 13, in Block 10, of the Booker Heights Addition,,
City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per
map or plat of said addition of record in t he off ice
of the County Clerk, Jefferson County, Teas; and
further reference is here made to the deed to said
property from Rosa Barkley and the unknown heirs and
legal representatives of E. R. _Bar_kley, deceased, by
Sheriff to the City of Beaumont, recorded in Vol. 6193.
page 484, Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas,
with all and singular the right, title, interest, claim, estate and
demand of the City of Beaumont in and .to the_ hereditaments and appur-
tenances thereto belonging or in anywise pertaining,
To have and to hold the above released right, title, interest,
claim, estate and demand. of -the City of Beaumont unto the paid
Sam F. Clifton, his heirs and assigns, forever; so that the said
City of Leaunont.11ill have no further right, title, ?ntere;:7t:. claim,
estate or demand in and to said property by reason of the above .referred
to Sheriffs deed,
In testimony wher; of, the City of .Beaumont has caused this instru-
ment to be executed by its Mayor and City Clerk and its seal to be
