AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER
OF DAISY LANE TO PURCHASE
CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AUTHORI-
ZING PROPER CITY OFFICERS TO
E�:ECUTE AND DELIVER QUITCLAIM
DEED TO PURCHASER OF SAME.
PREAMBLE
WHEREAS, on the 12th day of October A.D., 1939, the City of
Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against Haywood Lane and Daisy Lane
in the sum of Three Hundred Forty-seven and 98/100.($347.98) Dollars,
together with interest from the date of said judgment and costs and
the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following described property,
to -wit:
Tract 82, Plat G, of the 5D Brown Survey in the
City of -Beaumont, as per maps and records in the
office of the Tax Assessor and Collector of the
City of Beaumont, and being more particularly de-
scribed as follows; Beginning at a point on the
west line of said Guy'DeVilleneuve 3 acre tract
80 feet south of its northwest corner; thence
south 50 feet for corner; thence east 125 feet
for corner on street; thence north on said street
50 feet forcorner; thence west 125 feet to place
of beginning; and being all that certain lot of
land out of the D Brown Survey in Jefferson County,
Texas, out of the Guy DeVilleneuve 3 acre tract out
of the Mrs. Ada DeVilleneuve 27 acre tract, as record-
ed in Vol. 198, page 43 of the Deed Records of Jeffer-
son County,Texas; and,
WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of January A.D., 1940, the City of
Beaumont purchased said above described property at public auction.
in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien for the sum of Three
Hundred Seventy-one and 40/100 (yP371.40) Dollars; and,
WHEREAS, the said tax judgment provided that the said Haywood
Lane, Daisy Lane or anyone having an interest therein might redeem
said property within two (2).years from the date of sale; and,
WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of January A.D., 1940, W. 01. Richardson,
Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed and delivered
unto the City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described property
in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed was re-
corded in Vol. 454, page 286 of the Deed Records of Jefferson County,
Texas, on the 15th day of March, A.D., 1940; and,
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of October A.D., 1946, Daisy Lane
offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate
and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described property
for the sum of Four Hundred Fifty-one and 07/100 ($451.07) Dollars;; and,
WHEREAS, the said Daisy Lane paid to the City of Beaumont the
sum of Four Hundred Fifty-one and 07/100 0451.07) Dollars as earnest
money in connection with said offer to purchase the above described
property; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission is of the opinion that such sale
is for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be
consummated;
NO'0i. THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF BE AUMONT ;
T hat the aforesaid offer to purchase' the above described
property is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont
a quitclaim deed conveying unto Daisy Lane all of the right, title,
interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the
above described property derived by reason of said Sheriff's deed.
