HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 78-45ORDINANCE NO. 21 - ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING THE HFMIN- AFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY ID THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, AND EX- TENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF SAID CITY SO AS TO INCLUDE THE SAID HEREINAFTER. DESCRIBED PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS, AND GRANTING TO SAID TERRITORY AND TO ALL FUTURE INHABITANTS OF SAID PROPERTY ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS AND BINDING SAID FUTURE INHABITANTS BY ALL OF THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY. [REAS, a public hearing before the governing body of the City of Beaumont, Texas, where all interested persons were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the territory described on Exhibits "A" through "E" attached hereto and made a part hereof was held at the City Council Chambers at the City Hall of the City of Beaumont, Texas, on the 7th day of February, 19781;, which date is not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the institution of annexation proceedings; and, WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a newspaper having general circulation in the City of Beaumont, Texas, on the 21st day of January, 1978, which is a date not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public hearing; and, WHEREAS, the territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the present boundaries of the.City of Beaumont, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. The land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the present boundaries of the City of Beaumont, Texas, and described in Exhibits A, B, C, D, and E; .' attached hereto and made a part hereof, is hereby added and annexed to the City of Beaumont, Texas, and said territory hereinafter described shall hereinafter be included within the boundary limits of the City of Beaumont, Texas, and the present boundary limits of such City at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits of the City of Beaumont, Texas. The described territory and the area so annexed shall be a part of the City of Beaumont, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof, if any, shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of all the citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations by the City of Beaumont, Texas. Port Arthur Canal right-of-way. BEGIN at a point where the north right-of-way fence line of Southern Pacific (T. & N.O. R.R.) crosses the easterly right-of-way line of L.N.V.A.
