ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 11
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS, BY AMENDING SECTION 11-35
(b) TO ADOPT THE 1978 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONI':
Section 1.
THAT Chapter 11 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont
is hereby amended by amending Section 11-35(b) to read as follows:
"Section 11-35(b) - Standards - Installation.
Conformity of electrical installations
with the applicable standards set forth
in the National Electrical Code shall be
prima facie evidence that such instal-
lations are reasonably safe to persons
and property; provided that the pro-
visions of this chapter shall prevail
over the National Electrical Code in
case of conflicting provisions. The
National Electrical Code of 1978, adopted
by the National Fire Protection Associ-
ation and all amendments thereof, is
hereby adopted, and the same is hereby
made a part of this chapter as fully
and to the extent as if copies herein in
full. One copy of such code has been
and now is filed in the office of the
City Clerk."
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.

That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular
set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be
invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining
portions of this ordinance, and to such end the provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section d.
The effective date of this ordinance shall be February 1,
1978.
